The simple beauty of this orange daylily against my the texture of my denim last night gave me pause. The contrast between something so tender and something so durable seemed to make both more beautiful.
In a way it is like our relationships. We find the people that balance us out, that bring beauty in their contrast. Perhaps they are more grounded or more outgoing than us. Perhaps the people that balance us have a better grasp of some area where we ourselves struggle. Yet there is beauty in this contrast; balance in these differences.
I'm grateful for this small flower that represents so much. I'm grateful to my mom who gave it to me out of her garden as I was heading out yesterday. I'm grateful for the many ways my mom and I are alike and equally grateful for the way we balance each other.
I'm grateful for the beauty I see in the contrast with my husband. I'm grateful for the many ways we balance each other and the beauty within that balance. I'm grateful to have the same core of love while having access to more perspectives through our connection. And I'm grateful and excited to see how the child growing inside me will add beauty to this contrast through her own personality.
What brings beauty to your life through contrast? What relationships do you cherish because of the balance and perspective they bring?
May today be blessed with beauty all around us. May we find things to cherish in every relationship and see the beauty and benefit in the contrast. Have a beautiful day!
