Last night we were supposed to receive an ice storm followed by snow, making the roads very dangerous and difficult to clear. At the temperatures we are experiencing the typical salt road treatment is ineffective for removing ice.
I cannot tell you for sure what is waiting outside. I woke around 2:30 a.m. to the ice and freezing rain pelting the windows but I have not looked outside since I got up to see the total outcome. For me, it won't matter until later this afternoon when I have to travel to work. My daughter's school is canceled and even if it were not she is under the weather anyway. Today will be another cuddle day.
Although I am never happy to see my sweet girl feeling sick and I am definitely over this cold and dangerous weather; I'm very grateful for another day of cuddles. I'm grateful to know that I need to cherish each time she wants to just be held because one day there will come a time when that is not the case. I'm grateful to be healthy so I can care for her without fighting my own battles. I'm grateful to be getting lots of rest this week. I'm grateful for the schools being cautious and closing when they feel it is necessary. I'm grateful the groundhog said Spring is coming giving hope that this weather is almost passed. And I'm grateful for all the crews who work hard, long, and even overnight to try to keep the roads safe for the rest of us.
What is your favorite thing to do on a snow day? Do you cuddle up with a book, movie, or a lived one?
May today keep everyone safe. May we listen to Mother Nature and take her warnings, remembering to cherish these moments of downtime. Have a beautiful day!
