Over the years he has gone out of his way to help me make my dreams come true. If I said I wanted to give it a try living half way across the country; he drove me there. If I said I wanted to visit a friend sixteen hours away for the one day pass they had; we loaded up. And when I said I needed to come back home he was always right there to help me pack.
He is a doting Grandpa. He is a role model and friend. And there is no one in the world that can rock cowboy boots on the ocean shore like my dad. So today I want to give gratitude to a man who always has my back and has taught me about the power of unconditional love.
I'm so grateful for all our travels. I'm grateful that growing up if I had an idea he could help make it a reality. I'm grateful for the times he speaks logic and the times he hams it up with me. I'm grateful for the balance he shows. I'm grateful for his hard working nature and the work ethic he taught me. I'm grateful to have a great dad and even if he isn't a saint, he is still a hero to me. And I'm grateful to see him with his granddaughter and know he will be a hero to her as well.
Who are the "saints" in your life? Who holds the role of everyday hero for you?
May today bless all the heroes with recognition today. May they be celebrated and feel the love they have created. Happy Birthday, Papa. Have a beautiful day!
