A shaman once told me that the reason we crave sugar when we are sad is because we are craving "sweetness" and if we do not get it in the form of love and hugs it seeks other means. I'm sure there are many reasons for sugar cravings but on an emotional level this makes sense to me. So in this moment of need, I reach not toward the candy dish, but toward something that truly delights my taste buds and is reserved for special treats.
My Sunbutter toast gets a special kick today and it is worth it. I can savor each bite and it truly doesn't take much of this rich delicacy to jazz up my morning meal. Yum!
I'm grateful for this little find in a quaint town that my husband and I explored as a date. I'm grateful for the benefits of honey. I'm grateful for the deliciousness of blackberries. I'm grateful for the culinary genius that created blackberry creamed honey. I'm grateful for this little burst of sweetness to my morning meal. I'm grateful for the hope of blackberries on my bushes this summer. And I'm grateful for this quiet, sweet moment.
What sweetness do you enjoy on a special day? What ways besides food can you add sweetness to your life?
May today fill our cup with love. May we get all the sweetness we need until it runneth over. Have a beautiful, sweet, day!
