There is a time for work and a time for play. There is a time for talking and a time for listening. Most the things in our life require balance. Pushing ourselves to get work done must be balanced with time to unwind. My life has been a little out of balance lately, in the opposite way. Having been off from my massage job the last three weeks from injuring my thumb combined with my coaching practice being a little slow; I have taken ample time to relax and play. In fact, even with the extra time to work on marketing and paperwork I instead used most the time to play with my dogs, paint the house, and learn scuba diving. While some people would consider painting the house work (and it was) I got to enjoy a pretty free schedule and share that time with my boyfriend so I'm classifying it as play because it did not further my business. This week I am rebalancing. Trying to find that balance between working productively and enjoying some relaxation. What I have been finding is that because I love what I do I can be productive while still being creatively playful. I can play with my program content . I can play with a new ad or a new photo edit. Work does not have to be boring or un-fun. And in finding joy and play within work, I find even more in my "play time". As strange as it sounds, I actually had begun to enjoy play less when I took so much extra time for it. Now that I am achieving that balance again, there is new joy in playing. For example, yesterday was the celebration of eleven months being with my boyfriend. We both worked a little late but I made sure to set the computer aside when he got home so we could celebrate. I did not need anything fancy, all I wanted was a long ride on the motorcycle so off we went. I'm so grateful for these simple pleasures. I'm grateful for a ride to "dust off" the day and feel the air on my "wings". I'm grateful to have such a loving boyfriend in my life. I'm grateful to have a renewed drive to work and new goals to work towards. I'm grateful to challenge myself while still seeking balance. I'm grateful for all the time I got to play and I'm grateful to still keep some play in my life in a more balanced way. I'm grateful to add play and creativity back into my work to renew my passion for what I do. And I'm grateful to share it with others and help them achieve the life they dream and deserve. Is your life feeling balanced? Have you been working too hard without down time or playing too much while avoiding work? What is driving any imbalances? (Fear, Deadlines, or Discontentment?) How can you seek to balance work and play or any other imbalances you may be experiencing? Life is an ever changing tide. It keeps us on our toes and requires our attention. May your day be blessed with work and play. May the two balance you in joy. Thank you for joining me this morning. Have a beautiful day!
