When he gets home in the afternoon I leave for work. I get home in time for our daughter to go to bed and then we have about an hour before I turn in myself. My husband stays up a couple more hours getting some much needed winding down time.
It has been our schedule for most of two years now. Even Saturdays are spent in passing usually as I go to work or he tries to get projects done or we both split up to conquer more chores. It is what it is and mostly it works.
Last night, as my head hit the pillow, my husband walked in. We laid in bed chatting a while and then snuggled up to sleep. Honestly, this simple togetherness felt like Christmas. It was such a nice gift to just be on the same schedule. And after staying up later last night with him, I slept in, waking to his alarm.
I will admit that I am tired. But it was well worth the special time together and to get to be on the same schedule for a night.
I'm grateful that we are able to split our schedules to be home with our daughter. I'm grateful for the ability to get things done by taking turns. I'm grateful for my husband's ability to work all day and then come home to care for a toddler. I'm grateful for my flexible schedule to allow me to work evenings. I'm so grateful for our beautiful, spunky little girl. And I'm grateful to feel so blessed when we do get to be on the same schedule. I'm grateful for date nights and cuddly nights and the nights that bring us back together.
What makes you feel blessed? When do you make time for the people you love? How does your typical day look and with who do you share it?
May today help us see the blessings in the typical day and also in changing it up. May we find time for the people we love. Have a beautiful day!
