While shopping this weekend for my sweet daughter I was happy to find there is a range of colors beyond pink to dress my sweet girl. But then, I have a wider view than some on what I consider gender neutral and I'm thankful my husband agrees.
We did the baby room in an ocean adventure theme complete with sand texture and a faux wood sunken ship. The light switch plates became dive flag symbols for our little explorer. At the store, however, many of the ocean themed clothing is in the boy department despite being neutral colors like red, orange, and teal. It was fun to buy a mix of clothing from both departments, and yes, I did buy some cute pink and florally things as well.
I'm grateful for the excitement of finding out our baby is a girl. I'm grateful for the fun of sharing this news with family and friends. I'm grateful that there will be several little girls within a year in age both in my family and friend circles for her to play. I'm grateful for the relationship I have with my mom and I am hopeful to have a wonderful relationship with my little girl as well. I'm so grateful for the range of things we have picked so that our daughter can find her own path in choosing how girly or tomboyish she wants to be. And I'm excited for the adventure that my husband and I have ahead of us as we navigate first time parenting.
What are you grateful for this morning? In what ways have you expanded your mind outside the "traditional" thought patterns around you?
May today bless you with great news! May you find gratitude in even the simple things. Have a beautiful day!
