In May we will celebrate three years, as most couple do, but today is just as special to us. It is nice to get excited about these milestones, much like we get excited for our daughter's milestones like 18 months or 100 weeks. It is these celebrations, these added "holidays" in our lives that remind us what is important.
It has not always been smooth sailing these 1,000 days. We have both learned things about the other that we love and things that in the wrong moment can drive us nuts. That is all part of the game and celebrating 1,000 days, while moving toward a grand goal of 50 years, may seem small but so are the random hours here and there that we drive each other crazy. It is a celebration of commitment and of progress.
I'm grateful for my husband. I'm grateful for the arguments that have led us to better understand each other and grow closer. I'm grateful the arguments few. I'm grateful for all the wonderful times and all the everyday days that we have gotten to share together. I'm grateful to be building our family and life together. I'm grateful for the last 1,000 days and the next 10 years. I'm grateful to have parents that model a great relationship for us and for all we learn from them. I'm grateful to celebrate not just the traditional milestones but those that are important to my husband and I.
What milestones are coming up for you? What goals can you celebrate moving a little closer to today?
May today remind us that it isn't just the goal that matters but the journey of how we choose to get there. May we celebrate each day. Have a beautiful day!
